AMHERST, Mass. (WGGB) — Investigators are working to determine how a train collided with a car Wednesday afternoon.
Amherst Police Officer John Chudzik says that around 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, a train traveling along the Central Vermont Railroad line collided with a car near 34 Bridge Street.
Amherst Fire Chief Tim Nelson explains that the train clipped the back of the car, which was occupied by three people, and spun it around.
No injuries reported to anyone in the car or on-board the train.
Nelson adds that the train did not derail, and there are no fuel leaks or spills coming from the car or the train.
A detour has been established to get motorists around the area while crews remain on-scene.
An investigation into collision remains ongoing.
